Hiring: Accounting Manager

Position Summary

Job Title: Accounting Manager
Status: Part Time
Reports to: Executive Director

The Accounting Manager position is a part-time position. The Accounting Manager will ensure the agency accounting procedures conform to generally accepted accounting principles. This is a hands-on position. This individual needs to have a solid background in non-profit accounting and grant administration. This position requires expertise in QuickBooks.

Principal Responsibilities

Accounting

  1. Must be a QuickBooks expert.
  2. Reconcile all accounts monthly (bank accounts, loans, balance sheet accounts).
  3. Prepare deposits.
  4. Handle the A/P process from start to finish.
  5. Enter and post donations.
  6. Handle month-end closing.
  7. Prepare Financial Reports for Finance Committee & Board of Directors.
  8. Prepare for and manage the Annual Audit.
  9. Other duties as assigned.

Grant Management

  1. Maintain Grant Files & Records.
  2. Work with Executive Director on creating budgets for grant applications.
  3. Complete monthly government Grant invoices (reimbursement grants).
  4. Reconcile & close out Grants at end of contract.

Budget

  1. Prepare the annual operating budget for all programs.
  2. Prepare the cash flow budget.
  3. Monitor budget vs. actual costs.
  4. Monitor cash balances.
  5. Monitor cash flow budget.
  6. Other duties as assigned

Payroll/HR

  1. Maintain the personnel files for all employees.
  2. Work with Executive Director on benefits.
  3. Prepare bi-weekly payroll in house.
  4. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  1. Must have an accounting degree and/or 5 – 10 years experience in accounting, preferably non-profit accounting.
  2. Must be a QuickBooks expert!
  3. Must have excellent Microsoft Office skills, this includes Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  4. Must be able to lift 25 pounds.
  5. Must be able to climb stairs with ease.
  6. Must be able to sit for long periods of time at a desk
  7. Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
